Love List #17

This week has been amazing. On Monday I flew up to Auckland to attend a few lectures by Yasmin Mogahed, a speaker from the US. It was such an uplifting experience! She speaks with so much beauty and wisdom. I took pages and pages of notes, and I'm looking forward to reflecting on everything.

+ Why you should write daily. I really want to create a habit out of this. Writing allows me to reflect so much more on life and it really brings clarity.

+ I'm interested in so many different things and I have a hard time figuring out what I want to do. I enjoyed this post from Moorea Seal on how she became a jewelry designer

+ Lisa always has brilliant and cohesive graphics on her blog - here's her guide to creating your own

+ How to make cheap clothes look nice (or at least not cheap)

+ There are some seriously chic hijabis out there!

THREE THINGS //

Allison from Be Up & Doing has a monthly Three New Things column, where she shares 3 things she wants to accomplish. I love that idea, and I'm planning on introducing a similar concept to my own weekends, and this Love List column.

My weekends seem to fly by so fast, and I never seem to get any of the fun stuff done! It's always chores and errands or just being lazy. So I thought it would be fun to choose three things to do each weekend and share them here! They have to be enjoyable things however, and not chores. Something that's going to make me feel inspired and motivated when Monday rolls around!

Here's my three things for this weekend:

  1. Go for an early morning walk. Done! My sister-in-law dragged me out of bed this morning, and I'm so glad she did! Fresh air and watching the sunrise was a great way to start the weekend
  2. Bake Anzac biscuits. This has been on my list for about a week now, and I'm finally going to get it done!
  3. Get in some quality reading time. I've been reading The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People on the bus in the mornings and I wanna work on drafting out my own personal mission statement.

Do you have any plans for this weekend?

// I love this idea of little monthly resolutions. I always make New Year's resolutions, but a few months into the year I'm not really interested in them any more. I think with monthly ones I'll be more focused!

// DIY embellished sunglasses are such an awesome idea.

// I always enjoy reading behind-the-scenes pieces from people with small businesses - Tania from Tdesign writes about being brave.

Thanks for reading, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

MY WEEK

// I'm in my second week of my course, which I still absolutely love! So far I've done seam, hem, zip and pocket samples, and on Monday I start pattern-making.

// I've noticed that studying full time again has made me way more productive, and I've actually decided to increase the blog posts that I'm doing a week. Weekends are a good time for me to get things done and I'm dedicating Saturdays now to photographing, writing, and scheduling my upcoming posts for the week. I hope you all like what I've got planned!

// It's also my sister's birthday today! She turned 22. I wish I could be there with her, but virtual love and hugs will have to do. Happy birthday Leni!

// As a treat to myself (for finally redesigning and relaunching this blog) I signed up for fashion illustration classes with Katie Rodgers from PaperFashion. I've been wanting to improve my illustrating skills for a while and her work is always so beautiful, so I'm really excited to start these classes.
